Smart lighting combines suitable lamps, drivers, switches or control modules with schedules, scenes, sensors and app or voice control. The design should preserve reliable wall control while adding automation where it genuinely helps.
There are two main approaches: smart lamps that require permanent power and smart switches or modules that control conventional fittings. Mixing approaches without a plan can cause lamps to go offline or create confusing controls.

Can smart lighting use my existing fittings?
Often, but lamp bases, drivers, dimming and control wiring must be compatible.
Do I need a hub?
Some products use Wi-Fi directly; others use a hub for more reliable local networking and automation.
Can motion sensors turn lights off while I am still in the room?
Yes if the control is poorly configured. Detection zones, time delay and manual override need setting for the room.
