Why does a timer fan need more than two wires?
It usually needs permanent and switched supplies plus neutral so it can continue after the light is off.
Can a fan vent into the loft?
No. Moist air should be ducted to a suitable external termination.
Will a new fan cure all mould?
It helps manage moisture, but heating, insulation, leaks, room use and replacement air may also need attention.
